Library hosts Numeracy Celebration “It All Adds Up!!”
The Maple Leaf Library presents “It All Adds Up!!”, a month’s celebration of numeracy in all its forms. Numeracy is defined as the skill or the ability to work with numbers. Numeric skills are valuable in life, not just in the math classroom, but in our everyday lives. The Ontario Ministry of Education has described numeric skills as the “new currency of societies around the world”. It is important therefore, that numeracy and literacy be the key to student achievement.
“It All Adds Up” will be held from November 6th to the 30th 2017. This celebration will feature all things numbers — computer coding, games, music, library displays, read-alouds, activities and workshops all intended to assist students in applying math in their everyday lives.
